“I’ve been telling my friends that Linda is an amazing, self-deprecating, funny, exacting teacher who tells us why we do a certain move, and relates it to the ancient martial art from which it comes. She demonstrates, praises, and honors each student and the art itself.”  – Jane R-W

“It has taken several years and different instructors to finally find a teacher that meets my desire to learn Tai Chi.  Tai Chi classes by Linda Henderson offer the opportunity to engage oneself in multiple levels of Yang Style Tai Chi. You can select from simple, low-key, health-focused exercises, or complex and challenging martial art skills. Students decide what level of instruction best meets one’s needs as there are classes at different levels and students select which class or multiple classes to attend. Linda is an excellent, experienced teacher who makes the classes and learning fun, stress free, and enjoyable in a pleasant environment.  – Max

“I am so glad I found Linda’s Tai Chi. I had been interested in learning Tai Chi for awhile. A friend and I looked for classes online and saw Linda’s, which were reasonably priced, so I tried it out. I have a dance background, and I liked that it felt a bit like a dance form, but was a martial art, which was new to me, and interesting and challenging. Linda’s teaching style is informal and fun, but also very focused on correct postures and positions as well as the principles of Tai Chi. She explains and demonstrates the reasons behind each form and is very invested in helping each student learn. She offers free practice sessions, extremely helpful videos, and individual tutoring, if desired. She is very accepting of all abilities and learning paces. I have really loved learning from her.” – Laura

World Tai Chi and Qigong Day 2022 highlighted demonstrations of Single Knife and Weapon Fan, Christine performed fan. Here is what she said after the event.”  I really enjoyed the event, taught me not to worry too much, taught me that I can do it without thinking about the next move, and that my body knows what to do even if I think I don’t.  An exhilarating experience, and I enjoyed Steve’s performance, we were sending him vibes of confidence, not that he needed them.-Christine

In my late 30’s I began having seizures. .One of my doctors recommended Tai Chi to help with grounding and balance. Through Linda’s heartwarming and most affordable approach , I began Tai Chi with the intent of healing my body from disease. Other classes I found only lasted a few weeks. But, Linda’s Tai Chi offered weekly classes, open to all levels of skill including beginners. What a blessing this was.  Though the movements seemed challenging at first, with Linda as teacher I jumped right into feeling the effects of Tai Chi on my body. My seizures subsided and through Linda’s classes I came to value the practice of this ancient Chinese energy medicine. Over a year later, I am still her student. We all value Linda’s commitment – and mission-to spread the art of Tai  Chi to anyone who wishes to learn, regardless of skill level or economic situation. I am happy to call her both a teacher and a friend.- Frank

I continue to pick up nuances in class and enjoy improving my form as slow as that may be. There is no doubt  in my mind that Tai Chi with Linda will help to keep me feeling younger than I am. Ted

I’ve been telling me husband about what I learn from Linda in class especially about our walking focus. My husband is an active 81 year old who had never thought about how he walks before. On our walks in Boulevard Park (Bellingham WA) today we watched our heels going down first and  pushing off with the balls of our feet. AND, also observed how others our age were walking , often stiff and flat- footed. Thank you, Linda. Barb

I have been a student of Linda’s for 4 years. During this time her instruction has personally helped me as I recovered from emergency open heart surgery. Regaining mobility and a diminished sense of balance has continued to improve for me since 2022 by my applying her focus on technique and tips on practicing which are included in her weekly handout. She certainly has been inspiring me. Janet

I have been a student of Linda’s for 6 years. She is not only a skilled Tai Chi practitioner but also an excellent teacher  who goes above and beyond to support her students. She is deeply committed to her students’ growth and development. Her teaching abilities, combined with her dedication, passion and compassion, make her an asset to the Tai Chi community. Maureen

Linda’s teaching style comes from a place of not only a deep respect for the art form but from wanting her students to reap the benefits for the mind and body. And, to have fun! A deep comradery among the students is a testament to Linda’s compassionate and supportive style. And, because of her welcoming style the community that’s been created has attracted many students. I SO appreciate you and your teachings. I’ve had at least 3 other tai chi instructors through the years and you’re one of my absolutely favorite. Gail

Thank you Linda for the wonderful seminar on “Of Mind and Body”. I learned so much. The seminar on Friday with Joleen and Maureen ushered in a most amazing confluence of events for me this weekend. I was stuck by the necessity to, “Improve the terrain of the body,” so it can heal and adapt to changes. Jane

My brain injury has been long and slow. The first time I took  your class my brain was so taxed and I was sick that I got lost on the way home. It was so hard I almost didn’t go back. But I really want to get better. In the last two months I have made enormous growth- which is how long I have been taking your class. I have been able to do more, be more present , have less migraines and less nausea. I sill have a long ways to go before I can return to work, but I feel better than I have in  2.5 years. My heart is so grateful that I can be in a room with the like-minded people, that when we  breathe together  it settles my soul. You make it fun and feel like a community. So this holiday season I will find stillness and focus on gratitude that you offer this lass and guide us. Wen

I would’ve said yet again, thank you thank you thank you for your teaching, for your presence, for all that you bring to our lives in the shaping and stewardship of our tai chi community. Bern

As a result of the burglary at the Firehouse the weekend of February 9, 2025, Linda’s Tai Chi stepped up immediately to fund raise to pay for the damage to this historical building and home to so many classes, concerts, performances, the best coffee and scones in town and so many other cultural events. From the Teresa Dalton, owner and operator of the Firehouse, “Thank you Linda , much appreciated that you are sharing this ( the newsletter to raise funds) with all! Your donations have been amazing, Thank-you! February 2025

I intended to write this while I was traveling but just didn’t get a chance. First time I’ve traveled by air for several years. I’m all those many years older now and the assault on the central nervous system of the body was powerful. Dehydration, noise, vibrations, change in all rhythms, inability to move around, inputs of all kinds…by day 3 I was feeling really unhinged. And, I remembered the medicine of Tai Chi and Chi kung — and all your teaching! I put my focus in my feet, in the bubbling wellsprings — and it was miraculous how my body responded to this intention. Just holding that intention settled me down, body and mind. So grateful.  BP 2025

World Tai Chi and Qigong Day 2025– The Qigong and Shibashi were wonderful, including the cleansing. The Tai Chi also, and the Fan demonstrations were lovely. Dedicating this work to All People, describing humanity as conduits of energy in the ancient view, placed today as a spiritual practice for world peace.   I am so proud and grateful to be a part of my Tai Chi community PM 2025

The community that Linda has created and now the Community Lunch every Tuesday has been good for the soul. Thank you , Linda. CH, 2025

Dearest Tai Chi family,

What a lovely day! I’m so deeply grateful for this Tai Chi community and for this special time I’ll always look back on with fondness. We truly are so fortunate to share in this practice together and to have these spaces to breathe, gather, and be mindful of the inner peace within. Thank you all for making it happen! Deborah, Intermediate Student and host of our Summer Gathering

Hi Linda,    I just wanted you to know that there was something really special about today’s 3pm class for me, and maybe for others (I don’t know). It’s not the first time that this has happened as a result of one of your Tai Chi classes, but this is the first time I’ve thought of expressing it to you.    What happened that was so special is kind of hard to explain. I think it was some union of us in the room – or a belonging that is felt, but hard to explain. I left feeling joyful when I didn’t walk into the building that way.    I thank you for providing the space for all of us to create that joyfulness for each other.

Warmly,

Pat Britain. October 2025

“I have never hit the lottery but after our class today, I kind of felt like if I had hit the lottery, the after-class glow is how it would feel — elation, and joy just to  be together again — incredible, nourishing fun. January 7, 2026 Bernadette
